macOS 27.2 RC brings Siri AI in five more languages, and release is near
Apple seeded 27.2 release candidates on October 19, and Siri AI is set to add French, Japanese, Korean, and more.

Apple released its 27.2 release candidates to developers on October 19: macOS Golden Gate 27.2 RC (build 26B118), iOS and iPadOS 27.2 RC (24B115), watchOS 27.2 RC (24S116), tvOS 27.2 RC (24K120), visionOS 27.2 RC (24N118), and Xcode 27.2 RC (27B48). A release candidate is the build Apple expects to ship unless a late bug appears, so the public update is likely days away.
The headline feature: Siri AI languages
When Apple shipped its 2027 software on September 14, it said Siri AI would start as a beta in English and expand to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish in October. Reports on the 27.2 betas show those languages in place, and October has 11 days left, so 27.2 is the likely vehicle. Siri AI needs a Mac with M1 or later or a MacBook Neo, and on the Mac it is available in the EU, unlike on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
What IT should note
Apple's macOS 27.2 RC release notes list a few known issues worth testing before you approve the update:
- With an external display connected, display settings might not be restored correctly and the arrangement might change
- After a clean install, Macs might not prompt for notifications in apps such as Calendar, Maps, Find My, Home, and Weather; the workaround is to enable them in System Settings, Notifications
- "Describe a Shortcut" might fail with a generic error
On iPhone, the iOS 27.2 notes add an expanded App Tracking Transparency prompt with yearly re-prompting for EU users, required in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania. Developers with EU users should review their consent flows.
Apple also seeded third release candidates of macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 and macOS Tahoe 26.7.2, which 9to5Mac says list only "important security fixes." Expect them alongside 27.2.
What to do
Mac admins should try the RC on test machines with typical dock and monitor setups and on freshly erased Macs, then set update deferrals to match. Everyone else can wait for the public release.
This does not mean every Siri AI feature reaches every region. Apple says availability varies by language and local rules, and Siri AI is still labeled a beta.
Our take: a modest point release with one big language change and a display bug that deserves attention in offices full of docks.
Caveat: release candidates can be revised, and Apple has not announced a public release date.
