Apple Sports is becoming useful beyond the biggest leagues
Version 4.4 combines wider soccer coverage with a better view of tennis tournament progress.

Apple Sports 4.4 adds Australian A-League Men, Egyptian Premier League, Israeli Premier League, and South African Premiership coverage. It also adds real-time tournament draws for Grand Slams and 1000-level tennis events.
The two changes solve different problems. More leagues broaden who can use the app; tournament brackets add context to the results already on screen.
Scores are only part of following a competition
Our take: a tennis score is more useful when you can see what the result means for the next round. For soccer fans, the threshold is even simpler: whether the team they actually follow is included.
Neither addition should be confused with new broadcast rights or a way to stream matches. The update expands the app's tracking and results experience. For fans who previously needed a separate score app for an uncovered league, this is a reason to look again.
