Apple says stores will have limited iPhone Duo stock on October 23, and the iOS 27.2 RC already enables Apple Pencil.

iPhone Duo goes on sale Friday, October 23, in more than 70 countries and regions, and Apple is warning walk-in shoppers to keep expectations low. In a statement to 9to5Mac on October 21, Apple said "Apple Stores will have limited iPhone Duo available for walk-in customers."
What Apple has confirmed
- Price: from $1,999 in the U.S., in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB, in star white and night sky.
- Launch: Friday, October 23, with 28 more countries and regions following on Friday, October 30.
- Walk-ins: per the list Apple gave 9to5Mac, stores in the U.S., Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Macao, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, the UK, and most of Italy will have some walk-in units. In mainland China, France, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the UAE, it is online orders for pickup only.
- Apple Pencil: Apple's spec page lists support for Apple Pencil (USB-C) only, with a footnote saying "Coming later this year."
Pencil may arrive sooner
Apple has not given a date. Creative Strategies analyst Max Weinbach reported that Pencil works on iPhone Duo with the iOS 27.2 release candidate Apple seeded to developers on October 19, and 9to5Mac and MacRumors repeated that finding. Apple's developer release notes for 27.2 do not mention it. If it survives into the final build, owners get it with the public iOS 27.2 update, which Apple has not released or dated.
Separately, WIRED reports that Apple plans to add Reachability to iPhone Duo in a software update later this year.
Who should care
If you own an Apple Pencil Pro or an earlier Pencil model, it is not on Apple's list for Duo. Anyone planning to mark up PDFs or sign documents on the 7.6-inch inner display should confirm Pencil support is live before buying one.
This does not mean Apple has confirmed Pencil support in iOS 27.2. That is an observation from a release candidate, not an Apple announcement.
Our take: Apple already called pre-order demand extraordinary, and delivery dates slipped into the new year, so a Friday walk-in is a long shot. If a Duo is for work, an existing order is your best bet.
Caveat: walk-in country lists come from Apple via 9to5Mac, and stock will vary by store.
