Apple announced Apple HomeView on October 13 as the centerpiece of its Welcome home launch. The device is a 7-inch Liquid Retina display on a speaker base, or a wall-mounted twin, that combines entertainment, FaceTime, Messages, and Home app controls. Pre-orders opened the same day in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, India, and New Zealand, with availability beginning Friday, November 13. Both models are $299 in the US.
What you get
HomeView targets households already in Apple Home, not people looking for a laptop substitute.
- Display: 7-inch Liquid Retina with True Tone, up to 500 nits, down to 0.3 nits
- Recognition: up to six faces for personal Home Screens and private Messages or Calendar
- Voice: Siri AI with onscreen awareness; personal context needs a paired Apple Intelligence iPhone or iPad
- Smart home: touch or voice control, up to nine camera livestreams, Matter and Apple Home Collection
- Continuity: Siri chats can continue on Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Vision Pro
- Mounts: Schneider Home USB-C from $59.95, AC Wired from $79.95; PoE Wired $129.95 in early 2027
Tabletop colors are silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray. Wall-mounted ships in space gray and silver only.
Caveats for Mac workers
This does not mean HomeView replaces a Mac or runs macOS apps. Apple is not selling it in the European Union because Siri AI is unavailable in iOS there. Face-gated personal content needs your paired iPhone or iPad present and recently unlocked. Video descriptions for HomeKit Secure Video need supported iCloud+. Treat November 13 as the first ship window, not a promise that every color is in stock.
Our take: for Mac users who already run Apple Home, this is Apple's first screen built as a home hub rather than a portable computer. Wait for reviews on face reliability and whether the Home app on Mac remains better for complex automations.
Singapore pre-orders start October 15. South Africa is reseller-only. Canadian French support comes later via software.
