Verizon will charge $10 a month for iPhone Handoff, double T-Mobile
Verizon prices iOS 27's one-number, two-iPhone Handoff feature at $10 a month, and says support is on the way.

Verizon confirmed on October 16, 2026, in its iPhone Duo pre-order announcement, that iPhone Handoff will cost $10 a month on compatible iPhones running iOS 27. iPhone Handoff is Apple's iOS 27 feature that lets one phone number move between two iPhones. Verizon says the feature is coming but gave no date. Apple's support document still lists only T-Mobile in the US and Telekom in Germany as supported carriers.
How iPhone Handoff works
Apple's support page describes a main iPhone and a secondary iPhone sharing one number. Only one is active on the network at a time; unlocking a phone makes it active and shows "Switched to this iPhone." Calls, voicemail, messages, and Find My location follow the active device.
- Requirements: two iPhones on iOS 27 or later, on Wi-Fi, signed in to the same Apple Account, with Messages in iCloud, FaceTime, and iMessage on
- Carrier: an eSIM from a participating carrier, with fees that vary by carrier
- Main iPhone only: some carrier services such as Call Forwarding, Caller ID, and account management
- Not switched: Apple Watch stays paired to one iPhone
- Wallet: payment cards work on both, but some transit passes, IDs, and corporate badges may work on only one
What the pricing looks like
At $10 a month, Verizon costs $120 a year, twice the $5 a month T-Mobile announced in September. In the UK, EE says it will be the first carrier to support iPhone Handoff later this year. AT&T has not committed to the feature, according to MacRumors.
For people who carry a Duo for travel and an iPhone 18 Pro for daily work, Handoff can replace a second line. Compare the yearly fee with the cost of a second line before paying. If your company issues phones, check with IT first: the corporate badge caveat and main-iPhone-only carrier settings matter for managed devices.
This does not mean Handoff gives you two active lines. It is one number on one active phone at a time, and it is separate from the older Handoff feature that continues app tasks across Apple devices.
Our take: the feature is genuinely useful for two-phone owners, but carriers are treating it as an add-on fee. Wait until Verizon publishes a launch date and plan terms before moving a work number onto it.
Caveat: Verizon's release does not list every compatible model or say whether business accounts get the same price.
