Anker MagGo 3-in-1 vs Cube: Which Charger to Buy | Macfolio
Anker MagGo Foldable 3-in-1 vs Anker 3-in-1 Cube: Which Should You Buy?
The foldable MagGo 3-in-1 and the Anker Cube charge the same three devices at the same speeds. Here is how they differ, which Cube is which, and what to buy.
Search for "Anker MagGo 3-in-1 vs Cube" and you get Anker's own FAQ pages, a few separate reviews, and a Reddit thread where people try to work it out themselves. The two chargers do the same basic job: one cable in, and an iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods case charging at once. The difference is in the shape, the weight, and which version of the Cube you end up with.
That last point trips a lot of people up, so this comparison starts there. Then it covers size, charging, the included power adapters, and which one we would actually buy.
TL;DR
Buy the @item:anker-maggo-wireless-charging-station-foldable-3-in-1 if the charger travels with you. Anker lists it at 195.6 g (6.9 oz) and 89 × 60 × 25 mm folded, with a 40W USB-C adapter and a 24-month warranty in the box.
Buy the Anker 3-in-1 Cube if it will mostly live on a nightstand or desk and you like a dense little object that stays put. Anker lists the MagSafe Cube at 60 × 60 × 63 mm and about 0.9 lb.
There are two Cubes. The original 3-in-1 Cube with MagSafe (Y1811) uses Apple's Made for MagSafe module and ships with a 30W charger. The newer 3-in-1 Cube with Qi2 (Y1812) uses Qi2 and ships with a 40W charger.
Charging speed is a wash. All three top out at 15W for the iPhone, and Anker supports fast Apple Watch charging on all of them. None of them is a 25W Qi2.2 charger.
the Foldable 3-in-1 for most people. It does the same job at half the weight. The Cube is the better object, not the better charger.

Our pick:
First, which Anker Cube are we talking about?
Anker has sold two chargers called the 3-in-1 Cube, and listings mix them up all the time.
Anker 3-in-1 Cube with MagSafe (model Y1811). The original. Anker says it uses Apple's official "Made for MagSafe" technology for up to 15W iPhone charging, and that it is certified for Apple Watch fast charging. It comes with a 30W charger and a 5 ft (1.5 m) USB-C cable. At the time of writing, Anker's UK store lists it, Anker's EU store shows it as sold out, and it is no longer listed on Anker's US store. Anker still sells it through its Amazon storefront.
Anker 3-in-1 Cube with Qi2 (model Y1812). The newer version, which Anker's support site also calls the MagGo Wireless Charging Station (3-in-1 Cube). Anker lists up to 15W of Qi2 charging for iPhone 12 to 17, a phone mount that adjusts up to 60° in portrait or landscape, and a 40W USB-C wall charger with interchangeable UK and EU plugs in the box.
The Cube on Macfolio links to the original MagSafe model (Y1811). Whichever store you use, check the model number on the listing before you buy, because the photos look almost identical.

Anker's US store lists both the Foldable 3-in-1 and the Qi2 Cube at $109.99 at the time of writing. Both go on sale often, so compare the live price before deciding on cost alone.
Size and travel: the Foldable wins clearly
This is the biggest real difference. The Foldable 3-in-1 weighs less than half as much as the MagSafe Cube and folds flat, so it slides into a laptop sleeve or a tech pouch. Anker describes it as roughly the size of a deck of cards when folded. The Cube takes up less room on a desk, but it is a solid block of about 408 g, and you feel that in a bag.
Folded, the MagGo Foldable 3-in-1 is a flat slab about the size of a deck of cards, shown here next to a Magic Mouse. Image: Anker
The Foldable also wins on what comes with it. It includes a 40W adapter, which matters because Anker warns that multi-port wall chargers can deliver less than 30W to it, and then some charging modules stop working. A flashing blue light is how it tells you the input power is too low. If you travel with one shared GaN charger for everything, that note is worth reading twice.

Desk and nightstand: the Cube earns its weight
On a nightstand, the Cube's heft is a feature. It sits still when you drop a phone on it in the dark, and the footprint is tiny: 60 mm on each side. The phone mount lifts up to 60°, so you can use it in landscape for StandBy or prop your phone up for a call, and the whole thing folds back into a cube when you are done.
The 3-in-1 Cube with MagSafe (Y1811) lifts and rotates its phone mount for landscape viewing or calls. Image: Anker
The Foldable 3-in-1 also supports landscape StandBy, and its phone module tilts a little further (Anker says 60 to 70°). Anker does add one caution for larger phones such as Pro Max models: avoid full extension so nothing obstructs it. On a desk next to a Mac, either one works. The Cube simply looks more deliberate.
The Foldable 3-in-1 also works as a bedside charger, with the iPhone in landscape StandBy. Image: Anker
Charging speed: closer than the names suggest
"MagSafe" versus "Qi2" sounds like a big split, but for these three chargers it is not. Each one tops out at 15W for the iPhone, 5W for the Apple Watch, and 5W for the earbuds where Anker lists it. Qi2 is the Wireless Power Consortium's magnetic charging standard, and Anker's Qi2 chargers are sold as MagSafe compatible. The MagSafe Cube uses Apple's own module instead. In daily use, you are choosing between two ways of reaching the same 15W ceiling.
Apple Watch fast charging is supported on all three. Anker says the Foldable 3-in-1 can take an Apple Watch Series 9 to 47% in 30 minutes thanks to its MFW certification. For an Apple Watch Ultra, Anker recommends angling the Foldable's watch module correctly and unbuckling stiff bands so the watch sits flat.
Raise the Foldable's watch module for watches with fixed bands, or lay it flat for detachable bands. Image: Anker
What none of them offers is 25W Qi2.2 charging. If you have a recent iPhone and want the fastest wireless top-ups, look at a 25W station such as the Satechi 3-in-1 Qi2 Wireless Charging Station, which Satechi lists with up to 25W for the iPhone and a 45W adapter in the box.

Cases and compatibility
All three need a magnetic case or no case. Anker recommends Apple's magnetic cases for the Foldable 3-in-1 and says to avoid cases thicker than 2.5 mm. For the MagSafe Cube, Anker specifically warns that non-magnetic cases such as OtterBox Defender will not work, and that metal cases, magnets, cards, keys, and pop grips interfere with charging.
On iPhone support, Anker's current pages list iPhone 12 through 17 for the Qi2 Cube, and Anker's Amazon listing for the MagSafe Cube lists iPhone 12 through 17 as well. Anker lists the Foldable 3-in-1 with iPhone 12 through 17 and wireless charging cases for AirPods 2, AirPods 3, and AirPods Pro.
Which one should you buy?
You travel more than twice a month: the MagGo Foldable 3-in-1. Less weight, a flat shape, a 40W adapter, and a longer warranty.
It will live on one nightstand forever: the Cube. The weight and the tiny footprint make it the nicer bedside object.
You want the Cube but the newer standard:3-in-1 Cube with Qi2 (Y1812). Same shape, Qi2 charging, a 40W adapter, and travel plugs.

FAQ
Is the Anker 3-in-1 Cube worth it?
It is worth it if you care about how the charger looks and feels on a nightstand. You are paying for the design and the compact block shape, not for faster charging, since it tops out at the same 15W as the lighter Foldable 3-in-1.
Is the Anker Cube MagSafe or Qi2?
Both versions exist. The original 3-in-1 Cube with MagSafe (Y1811) uses Apple's Made for MagSafe module and includes a 30W charger. The 3-in-1 Cube with Qi2 (Y1812) uses Qi2 and includes a 40W charger. Check the model number on the listing.
Is the Anker MagGo Foldable 3-in-1 better than the Cube?
For most people, yes. It charges the same three devices at the same top speeds, weighs 195.6 g against about 408 g for the MagSafe Cube, folds flat, and comes with a 40W adapter and a 24-month warranty.
Does the Anker MagGo 3-in-1 come with a charger?
Yes. Anker includes a 40W USB-C charger and a 5 ft (1.5 m) USB-C to USB-C cable with the Foldable 3-in-1 (A2557). It is not a battery pack, so it only works when plugged in.
Do either of these charge an iPhone at 25W?
No. All three top out at 15W for the iPhone. For 25W Qi2.2 charging you need a newer charger, such as the Satechi 3-in-1 above.
Why is my Anker Cube not charging?
Start with power and cases. Anker recommends using the included 30W charger or one with at least 30W output, and says non-magnetic or thick cases, metal, and accessories like card wallets or grips interfere with charging. Anker also notes that the back of the charger charges earbuds only, not the phone. Anker's user manual lists the meaning of each LED status if you are seeing a blinking light.
Verdict
The MagGo Foldable 3-in-1 is the better buy. It matches the Cube on what actually matters, charging speed and three devices at once, while weighing less than half as much and packing flat. The Cube is the one we would put on a nightstand and never move, because it is a genuinely lovely object, but you are paying for that in grams and, on the MagSafe model, a smaller adapter.
If you go with the Cube, decide which one you want first. The MagSafe version uses Apple's module and is getting harder to find from Anker directly. The Qi2 version is the one Anker currently sells in the US. Browse more chargers, stands, and desk gear in Mac hardware on Macfolio.
